Sunday morning update

I heard from Brian via text message this morning.  He said:

"All is well here. At same hospital as yesterday. A lot slower. We are bringing in 15 post-op patients who will stay here until well. Two of us will remain here overnight.

Still seeing fractures, dislocations, and wounds. I think the Haitians are beginning to grieve, now that the shock is over and life is returning to somewhere closer to normal. They are telling me about their relatives who died.

We had been in an air-conditioned bus, but today we rode in a caged flatbed truck. We could smell rotting bodies as we drove through town."

No news from Brian on the church. There is hope that the 2 girls may be able to fly out Tuesday on a Baptist General Convention of Texas plane.

  1. Thanks for the update Stephanie. It's nice to hear what you do and don't know. I've not heard from Katie since yesterday's email and Debbie D. is in Austin at an ECC US team meeting. So, haven't heard from her since right after that. Last I heard we were asked to pray that they were able to get the food to the church today (Sunday). But, still don't know if they got medical care...or how many people are left at the church. I do know Gersan, the pastor and his wife did make it back last night. It does sound hopeful for the girls getting to Dallas and that is good news.

I continue to pray for Brian, Katie, Gersan and all involved in the related ministries that are doing such a great work in Haiti. I know God brought all their paths together for a reason...beyond helping the Haitians. It is all beyond coincidence in my mind. Only God could have orchestrated that. So, I am trusting and resting in HIM to do what only He can do, so that He may receive the glory. Thank you for allowing God to use you, as well!

    Debbie
